Published by the glyphpress, Shock:Social Science Fiction is a set of rules for collaboratively creating science fiction with friends around a table.
Part of the book specification was that it be both unusual and readable, once the reader got used to it — much the way one reads science fiction. To accomplish that, the design contains several unusual elements:
Golden ratios are hidden throughout the design, an attractive and familiar shape. Sidebars are treated like hypertext, interjecting themselves into the text in contextual spots. Chapters start on the left, but right hand pages also show that a chapter is starting so they can be easily found.
The book is designed to be instantly recognizable, whether on a shelf or a table, on its face or on its back.
